My Nemo Swimming Journey: Spencer & Bethan
Bethan brought Spencer swimming when he was just 5 months old. He’s now just about to celebrate his second birthday and is absolutely loving his Nemo Swimming classes. It’s not just Spencer who loves the classes, though… his grown-ups do, too! So much so that they have already decided that when baby number 2 arrives later this year, they will be signing them up straight away!
How old was Spencer when he started his Nemo Swimming Journey?
Bethan: He was just 5 months old
And how old is he now?
Bethan: He’ll be 2 next month… not sure where the last 2 years have gone!
Tell us a little bit about Spencer’s Nemo Swimming Journey so far?
Bethan: It’s been a bit stop-start owing to health problems on my part and his. Even with this, Spencer’s confidence has noticeably increased as a result of attending these classes.
You mentioned confidence, but what other benefits have you seen as a result of bringing Spencer to Nemo Swimming classes?
Bethan: He’s definitely more confident in the water and this was really noticeable when we went on holiday just a few months ago. He’s also much more confident around other children, too.
For me as a parent, I’ve been much more comfortable when we’ve been around the pool on holiday.
What do you and Spencer love most about your classes?
Bethan: Having 1-1 time just me and Spencer is absolutely great. He loves splashing and the songs, and also the horse races on the woggles!
What would you say to other parents looking to sign their baby, toddler or pre-school child up to Nemo Swimming classes?
Bethan: Absolutely sign up! I was apprehensive about swimming classes and submersions but it’s the best thing we’ve done with Spencer. I’m currently 5 months pregnant and myself and my husband have already decided that this baby will absolutely be joining Nemo Swimming and we’ll start the baby earlier than we did with Spencer.

Bethan: Highly recommend Nemo Swimming – it’s our favourite thing to do!
